Chocolate Ganache Glaze
Ganache is a glaze, icing, sauce, or filling for pastries made from chocolate and cream.
It is made by heating cream, then pouring it over chopped chocolate of any kind. The mixture is stirred or blended until smooth, with liqueurs or extracts added if desired.
It is my personal go to for chocolate truffles. The hard shell molded kind that are so pretty to give as gifts for valentines day or serve up to shower guests. I have even made them as favors in tiny boxes for special dinner parties.
This recipe is a variation of traditional ganache that I use for frosting decadent brownies or pour over a single chocolate layer cake.
- 12 oz. Chocolate chips
- 3 Tbsp butter
- 1/2 cup cream
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 tsp. vanilla
- Carefully melt chips, butter and cream in microwave. Chocolate burns easily and will seize up if not careful. I heat in a microwave 15 seconds at a time then stir until the chocolate is melted.
- Add the powdered sugar.
- This frosting remains as a pouring frosting it will harden as it cools.
- If you want it stiffer add more powdered sugar and beat.
